Happy Monday GPODers!
About one month ago, we enjoyed a delicious assortment of early spring color from a cast of pastel blooms in Marty Whalen’s garden in Backus, Minnesota (Zone 4) (Check that submission out, if you missed it: May Blooms from Marty’s Garden in Minnesota). But as the growing season continues to heat up, so does the color in Marty’s flower-filled landscape. Today we are back in her garden to see the bolder blooms that emerged later in the season and replaced most (but not all) of the spring bulbs that we saw last month.

This bright yellow iris is like a ray of sunshine in Marty’s garden!
This beauty reblooms in fall if conditions are right.
This group of lupine had been in this bed for 10 years. It reseeds and has gone from all cherry to a mix of pinks and purples.
One of the last tulips to bloom, Akebono (Tulipa ‘Akebono’, Zones 3–8).
