The Jacket You Grab on the Way Out

Outfit Details: Gwyn Dress, Call It by Your Name Loafers (sold out, more colors here), Valentino Bag, Leset Jacket

We’re heading into the stretch of August where a lightweight jacket earns its place by the door. Something easy to throw on when a cool breeze turns up, but not yet a coat that has to do any real work. I look for the one that goes over almost anything, a colorful sundress, an easy set, even just a T-shirt and jeans. It gives my look a clean frame and a little more dimension while the weather figures itself out.

I’ve put together this edit around the four directions I think a transitional jacket can go. A trench, which brings in a crisp, longer line. Suede, which warms a look up. Denim, for casual structure. And a barn or linen jacket, which is really the whole idea, an outer piece that feels completely unfussy.

Every one of them finishes an outfit a little differently, and each one feels like it was reached for with intention, even if you grabbed it on your way out the door.
