Prasuna’s Maryland Container Garden – Fine Gardening

In Abingdon, Maryland, Prasuna makes the most of a sloping, shady backyard. Here’s what she has to say:

I mostly garden in containers. My biggest limitations are the slope, shade, and my love of tropical plants. A patio and deck help make up for the sloping backyard, provide good layering for the garden, and give me a place to keep tropicals like jasmine (Jasminum cvs., Zones 6–11) and bougainvillea (Bougainvillea cvs., Zones 9–11). The tropicals spend the winter in the basement.
