Happy Monday, GPOD! Can you believe it’s almost September? To kick off the week, we’re taking a look at Diane’s ground-cover garden in Hartford, Wisconsin. Here’s what Diane has to say about her garden:
I love my ground cover. Blooming beautifully and loving the fresh rain!

A low carpet of ground cover runs along the edge of the walkway, softening the fence line and tying together larger clumps of coleus (Coleus scutellarioides, annual), hostas (Hosta cvs., Zones 3–9), and impatiens (Impatiens walleriana, annual).

Stepping stones for Diane’s grandchildren are tucked among the ground cover, flowers, and foliage in this side-strip garden.

An old wagon wheel fits naturally into this shaded corner, surrounded by flowers, foliage, and a collection of garden ornaments.
Thanks for sharing your space with us, Diane! I always love seeing a fellow Wisconsin garden make its GPOD debut. Your ground cover looks so lush and soft, and now I’m curious to see what you have growing in the rest of your landscape. Hello from your neighbor in Milwaukee!
We want to see YOUR garden!
Have photos to share? We’d love to see your garden, a particular collection of plants you love, or a wonderful garden you had the chance to visit!
To submit, fill out the Garden Photo of the Day Submission Form.
You can also send 5–10 photos to [email protected] along with some information about the plants in the pictures and where you took the photos. We’d love to hear where you are located, how long you’ve been gardening, successes you are proud of, failures you learned from, hopes for the future, favorite plants, or funny stories from your garden.
