Spring Arrives in Dawn’s Ohio Garden

Hi GPODers!

As spring continues to bring more and more color to our landscapes, new spring garden photos continue to arrive at Garden Photo of the Day. Today’s photos are a first-time submission from Dawn in Sugarcreek, Ohio (Zone 5b), and show a gorgeous sampling of the garden life that has emerged after the the last of winter’s snow finally melted away.

My garden has grown and evolved over the last 30 years and is a source of relaxation and peace for me.

giant snow pileIt’s only been a few months since Ohio looked like this! Only the tip top of a Christmas tree is sticking out of a snow pile created when the parking lot at my workplace was plowed.

clumps of snowdropsSnowdrops (Galanthus nivalis, Zones 3–7) are a welcome sight!

close up of redbud flowersThe redbud (Cercis canadensis, Zones 4–8) put on an amazing show!

Bartzella peonyThe newest addition to my garden hasn’t been planted yet. This ‘Bartzella’ peony (Paeonia ‘Bartzella’, Zones 4–9) is an early Mother’s Day gift from my daughters. It’s a showstopper!

long perennial bedThe long perennial bed in the back is coming to life. And there’s the new peony, still not planted, but it looks right at home there. I think I’ve found the spot.

Thank you so much for sharing this lovely taste of spring in your garden, Dawn! From the beautiful blooms to the lush new foliage, spring arrives with real vibrancy in your landscape.
